While TCA fully supports the objectives of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), its members have significant concerns about the lack of a clear and reliable conformity assessment pathway for telecommunications products within the current implementation timeline.

Given the need for regulatory certainty and forward planning, TCA is engaging the European Commission with the aim of discussing these challenges directly and exploring possible implementation routes. In particular, TCA welcomes an exchange on transitional measures, conformity assessment capacity, and whether additional standardisation activities may be required to support a practical and effective compliance framework for telecommunications products.

Further to this engagement, the working group is continuing to develop a white paper that highlights the applicability of the CRA guidance to the wider telecoms industry. A liaison request has also been submitted to CEN TC 224 WG 17, the CRA-related working group leading the development of harmonized standards for essential cybersecurity requirements affecting hardware devices.

Work on Version 1.5 of both the TCA eUICC Profile Package: Interoperable Format (IPP) Technical and Test Specifications continues to progress.

The group is continuing work to test updates to the TCALoader tool.  It is also progressing the development of the latest instalment of its ‘Stepping Stones’ series to provide recommendations for increasing interoperability between the eUICC and eIM.
