Welcome from the TCA Chair

GSMA’s eSIM IoT Specification (SGP.32) stands to significantly accelerate the use of eSIM technology across IoT use-cases by offering a dedicated standard that simplifies the remote provisioning and management of IoT devices.

As we all know, SGP.32 has introduced new ecosystem roles: the eSIM IoT Remote Manager (eIM) and the IoT Profile Assistant (IPA). While the specification is necessarily flexible to allow for multiple implementation options and various deployment scenarios, this poses new interoperability challenges. As SGP.32 adoption builds, TCA is committed to exploring opportunities to promote safe, reliable, and consistent IoT deployments in the field.

This is why TCA is currently exploring the value and feasibility of an eIM functional certification programme and IPA reference implementation.

As a next step, TCA is hosting a virtual member-only roundtable to discuss the subject in further detail and present the work done so far with our members. As this is such an important topic that impacts the entire eSIM ecosystem, we encourage all members to join us for the virtual roundtable on Wednesday 10 June at 9am CEST.

This will be followed by the TCA Annual General Meeting (AGM). Taking place in Madrid, Spain on Tuesday 23^rd June at 10am CEST, the AGM will provide TCA members the opportunity to discuss TCA’s strategic and technical priorities for the year.
