Having published its whitepaper ‘Realising the Benefits of GSMA’s eSIM IoT Specification (SGP.32)’, the group is now working on a new technical paper that will provide deployment guidance and best practice. Publication is planned for Q4 2024.

Next month, the group will deliver a webinar as part of Java Card Forum’s webinar series to explore how Java Card applet developers can maximise interoperability and security across eSIM deployments. The webinar will also demonstrate how the TCALoader tool enables mobile operators and application developers to test interoperability across eSIM-based services.

The eSIM Working Group continues to focus on developing Version 3.4 of the TCA eUICC Profile Package: Interoperable Format Technical Specification. Work is also progressing on the associated test specifications.

The group continues to make progress on the common lifecycle assessment (LCA) framework. The LCA will provide a credible, objective methodology to help industry participants assess the environmental footprint of SIM and eSIM products. The provisional aim is to launch by the end of 2024.

TCA is joining Java Card Forum’s 2024 webinar series on 12 November. Chair of the TCA Interoperability Working Group, Amedeo Veneroso, will explain the guidelines and recommendations provided in TCA’s ‘Stepping Stones for Java Card Applet Developers’, and how they ease integration and ensure applet assets are sufficiently protected.
