Trusted Connectivity Alliance: March 2026 Member News
Welcome from the TCA Chair
As our industry convened last week for Mobile World Congress, the release of TCA’s latest market monitoring insights demonstrated how the benefits of eSIM technology are being realised across more regions, use cases and industries.
TCA members estimate that the total number of eSIMs shipped globally in 2025 grew by 18%, reaching a new annual high of 605 million. TCA members collectively shipped 523 million eSIM units. This growth was complemented by a significant increase in consumer and IoT eSIM activations, reflected in a 43% uplift in consumer eSIM profile downloads.
TCA data also shows that the market transition to GSMA’s eSIM IoT Specification (SGP.32) is well underway, evidenced at this early stage of deployment by a strong increase in the number of eSIM Subscription Manager (SM) platforms that support profile downloads in accordance with the specification.
With increases in deployments and adoption set to continue, ongoing industry efforts to advance the enabling standards and infrastructure will be key to promoting safe, reliable and consistent eSIM implementations everywhere.
This will be the focus of TCA’s presentation at this week’s Embedded World Conference, where Stephane Jacquelin (IDEMIA) will be exploring how addressing emerging interoperability and security considerations can ensure the transformative potential of eSIM for the IoT can be realised. If you are attending Embedded World, join Stephane on Wednesday 11th March from 15:00-15:30 in Session 1.12 ‘Cellular & eSIM’ in Room Stockholm. TCA will also be participating in the virtual BCN LATAM Summit (18-19 March) – be sure to follow us on LinkedIn for more details and register here.
Building on this strong momentum, we look forward to sharing more information on TCA’s key strategic and technical initiatives for the year ahead.
