TCA has published Version 3.4 of the eUICC Profile Package: Interoperable Format Test Specification. It provides a globally standardised means of testing products which implement Version 3.4.1, Version 3.3.1, Version 3.2, Version 3.1, Version 2.3.1, Version 2.2, or Version 2.1 of the eUICC Profile Package: Interoperable Format Technical Specification.

Following the recent public request for feedback on several documents developed to support the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), the working group submitted extensive feedback on behalf of TCA.

The group is now working to finalise a technical paper providing SGP.32 technical implementation guidelines to address key deployment scenarios and operations.

The group has been developing the first industry-led, common lifecycle assessment methodologies to provide a consistent and reliable approach for determining the environmental impact of SIM and eSIM products. Ahead of the full public launch of the final materials in mid-April, the methodologies are now exclusively available to TCA members.

To provide developers with practical guidance and to promote compliance, Stepping Stones for Java Card Applet Developers consolidates all security recommendations into a comprehensive, accessible checklist. This enables developers – particularly those who are newer to the eSIM market – to more effectively address common challenges. The checklist can also be used by quality and test engineers, as well as end customers, to verify proper implementations. This can help identify issues prior to deployment and promote increased trust across the ecosystem. Learn more.

The traditional SIM market in 2025 remained highly resilient in the face of ongoing digitalisation and soaring demand for eSIM technology. TCA estimates that the total available market for ‘traditional’ SIM** was 3.5 billion units in 2025. TCA members increased their delivered SIM volumes by 6% year-on-year, with growth seen across mature markets in Europe and the Middle East, as well as developing markets throughout Africa and Asia. TCA members reported a 33% year-on-year growth in deployments of the Recommended 5G SIM in 2025, showing that the technology continues to expand in a rapidly growing eSIM market. 5G SIM shipment volumes were highest in India, which is central to global growth due to significant network and consumer adoption. North America remained the second largest 5G market, while Europe saw a robust increase amid the continued rollout of 5G SA deployments. The MEA region saw the most impressive percentage growth globally, demonstrating that 5G demand is still increasing across emerging markets. Learn more.

The SIM industry continued to make strong progress in its efforts to reduce plastic waste and associated emissions in 2025. 45% of all SIM volumes collectively reported by TCA members were in the half SIM format – up from 37% in 2024. In addition, over 40% of SIM volumes in Europe were manufactured using eco-friendly raw materials. The sustainability trend was also seen in emerging markets.  For instance, in MEA, more than double the volume of SIMs were manufactured using eco-friendly raw materials in 2025 than in 2024, with half SIM format shipments also up by 40%.
